The $12 million facility celebrated with a ceremonial ribbon shooting on December 13. Twenty-four hours later, one of its employees shot himself in the hand.

4. BonChon Chicken in Dallas shuts down temporarily under weight of hype. Newly opened BonChon Chicken has shut down temporarily to address what it perceives as problems in consistency and wait times. The Greenville Avenue spot issued a letter to its fans, announcing the shutdown with an apology.
5. Dallas hot spot ranks among America's 25 most important restaurants. According to a new end-of-year roundup by dining survey king Zagat, Mot Hai Ba in East Dallas is one of the most important restaurants in the entire country, thanks to an innovative menu that stands out nationally.
