Opt for Optimism
Colorful mural pops up in Deep Ellum to inspire optimism and photo ops
You might notice a new mural at 2801 Elm St., on the side of Spanish tapas bar Izkina, and hopefully, it will brighten your day.
Frost Bank commissioned popular muralist and graffiti artist GONZO247 (also known as Houston-based Mario E. Figueroa Jr.) to depict what optimism means to him, and the result is a colorful image that's more than just writing on a wall.
Figueroa was inspired by the notion of positive energy and turned that feeling into a riot of vibrant color that will hopefully flow off the wall and into the minds and spirits of people passing by.
Come check out the mural for yourself on December 6 from 3:30-5:30 pm, when Frost Bank and CultureMap will be hosting a pop-up event. Snap and share a photo in front of the new wall art, use the hashtags #OptForOptimism and #sweepstakes, and you could win $500 cash plus another $500 for your favorite nonprofit.
Expect other fun surprises and giveaways throughout the day, thanks to community partners Alamo Drafthouse, Drybar, Outdoor Voices, and Live Love Pop, to name a few.
