Planes, trains and automobiles: What you need to know about holiday travel inDallas
Transportation options in Dallas-Fort Worth are plentiful, to be sure. But all the planes, trains and automobiles in the world won't do you any good unless you know how to best use them. Traffic is a surefire source of holiday stress, so whether you're driving or taking public transportation, here's what you need to know:
Dallas Love Field is in the middle of a modernization project and thus has some construction changes that travelers may not be aware of. Namely, curbside check-in for Southwest passengers is now on the upper roadway on Cedar Springs Road. Pick-up for Southwest Airlines passengers, taxis, limos and for-hire shuttles is in front of baggage claim on the upper roadway of Cedar Springs Road.
United Airlines and Delta passengers should be dropped off and picked up in front of Terminal 1; passengers who self-park should use Garage B and take the ground-level crosswalk. All courtesy shuttles for hotels, car rentals and private parking is now on the lower level of baggage claim.
DART buses and light rail will operate on a Saturday schedule on December 24 and on a Sunday schedule on December 25. Customers needing schedule information can call 214-979-1111.
HOV lanes will be closed on I-30 East and West, the reversible S-ramp at the southern end of the I-35 East HOV lane, and the direct connector ramp between HOV lanes on US Hwy. 75 and IH-635. The section of the I-35 East and US Hwy. 67. HOV lanes from downtown Dallas to Loop 12 will also all be closed.
HOV lanes that will be open include the remaining portion of the I-35 HOV lanes, the IH-635 HOV lanes, the US Hwy. 75 HOV lanes, and the I-35E/US Hwy. 67 HOV lanes from Loop 12 to Camp Wisdom Road.
Trinity Railway Express is operating a regular weekday schedule on December 24 but will have no service on December 25.
