Chelsea Hasn't Been Here Lately
Chelsea Handler breaks up male comedian monotony with Dallas tour date
Most of the big names in comedy who come through Dallas tend to be of the male persuasion. But Chelsea Handler will buck that trend when she visits Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie on Friday, March 28, as part of a 30-city tour.
The tour, in support of her forthcoming book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, will start on March 4 in New York City. In addition to the Dallas stop, Handler will visit Houston on March 29 and Austin on March 30. She last came to town in June 2011 in support of her last book, Lies Chelsea Handler Told Me.
Handler has been one of the few female stand-ups to break through in the male-dominated profession. She's hosted her own talk show, Chelsea Lately, on the E! network since 2007. She also had a short-lived NBC series, Are You There, Chelsea?, that was based on another one of her books, Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea.
Handler's appeal is often her lack of inhibitions, whether it's laying bare her personal life on her talk show, tweeting out a revealing photo or going toe-to-toe with Conan O'Brien while stark naked.
Tickets for Handler's tour go on sale via her website starting on Friday, January 17, but American Express card holders can buy tickets early January 9-13.
Oh, and if you do happen to go, make sure to follow her rules outlined in the above video. She's a stickler that way.
