Rockin' Free Trip
Hard Rock Dallas gives local bands a chance to score a trip to Rome
The life of a local band can often be a grind, especially in Dallas-Fort Worth, with venues spread across four counties. But Hard Rock Cafe Dallas will reward bands for the effort through the Hard Rock Rising battle of the bands competition.
Now through January 27, any local band can sign up for the competition for free via Hard Rock Dallas' Facebook page. Once registration ends, fans can vote on Facebook for which bands they want to see compete live. Hard Rock Dallas will then host five separate live concerts, running February 26-March 26.
The winner of the Dallas battle of the bands will compete against winners from the other 81 Hard Rock locations across the country in another Facebook fan vote to determine the top 25 bands. A panel that includes Steven Van Zandt, Bonnie McKee and others will then determine the ultimate grand prize winner.
That's a lot of different steps, but the prize is huge: An all-expense-paid trip to Rome to perform at the first Hard Rock Live Rome music festival this summer. Two runner-up bands will receive $10,000 worth of equipment and gear, which just might be a better prize than the trip to Rome.
Any bands interested will obviously want to galvanize their fan base in order to gather as many votes as possible. In addition to voting online, fans can also triple their vote by checking in via Facebook at Hard Rock Cafe Dallas. For their efforts, anyone who checks in will automatically be entered to win a trip for two to the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun, Mexico.
