Home improvement for Dallas hipsters tops 5 most popular stories this week
Editor’s note: Another week has come and gone, and there’s a lot we all probably missed. But we’re looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:
1. New concept in Uptown puts Dallas in line with major national food trend. Dallas is about to get the latest buzzy concept in dining: a food hall. Coming in spring 2016, Uptown Urban Market will go into the former Sfuzzi space at the Gables Villa Rosa on Cedar Springs Road.
2. Austin's gourmet Cow Tipping Creamery scoops up cozy Dallas location. Austin's favorite gourmet soft-serve, Cow Tipping Creamery, has found a home in Dallas. The artisanal ice cream company will open a stand inside Good 2 Go Taco.
3. Home Depot for hipsters branches out from Austin to Dallas for second location. It's been called the “Whole Foods of home improvement” and “Home Depot with a green conscience,” and soon Dallas will have one. TreeHouse, a sustainable home improvement store, is opening its first location outside of Austin, at Walnut Hill Lane and 75.
4. Fixer Upper couple opens cutest B&B in Texas — and demand is nuts. If you're keen to stay at the new bed-and-breakfast that Fixer Upper couple Chip and Joanna Gaines just opened in McGregor, Texas, get in line. Actually, you might want to plan far in advance, because their Magnolia website opened on February 10 for reservations and subsequently crashed due to high demand.
5. Lakewood doughnut shop faces same unsavory fate as Dixie House. Another neighborhood favorite in Lakewood Center has been given its walking papers. Donut Paradise, a mom-and-pop doughnut shop at 1961 Abrams Rd., is shutting down on February 29, after failure to come to terms with landlord Lincoln Properties.
