Jimmy Kimmel at SXSW
Jimmy Kimmel's Austin guest list appeals to Cowboys fans and celebrity junkies
Jimmy Kimmel is taking his late-night show to SXSW again this year, and ABC has announced a slew of high-profile guests, including Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Jimmy Kimmel Live will be filmed at the Long Center for Performing Arts in Austin from March 16-20.
In addition to Romo, Kimmel will welcome Matthew McConaughey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brad Paisley and Kevin Hart. Fans can also expect an appearance from Austin High School grad — and guitar god — Gary Clark Jr.
"Throughout the week, Jimmy Kimmel Live will also highlight musicians sitting in with the house band, Cleto and the Cletones, such as Gary Clark Jr.," reads a release.
Like last year, Kimmel and company will be filming skits around Austin. (The crew made a surprise scouting visit in February during which Kimmel and sidekick Guillermo rode around East Austin in a pedicab.)
Arguably the hottest event in town, the free tickets for Jimmy Kimmel Live were released in February and quickly snatched up. Last year, Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell declared March 19 the official Jimmy Kimmel Day. No word on whether the late-night host plans to celebrate this historic occasion.
