New axe-throwing place hacks into Irving's Toyota Music Factory
A new axe-throwing place is coming to DFW, or specifically to the Toyota Music Factory in Irving, the mixed-use entertainment and lifestyle complex located in the Las Colinas Urban Center.
It's called Stumpy's Hatchet House, which has the most distinctive name of all the axe-throwing places to open in the area so far. Their description of what they do is right on: "An extreme version of darts, patrons will be able to hurdle a sportsman's hatchet through the air toward a painted bull's eye."
According to a release, this will be the first Stumpy's Hatchet House in the DFW area, joining 22 other Stumpy's across the country, including one in San Antonio that opened in 2018 as the first Stumpy's in Texas. There are also locations "coming soon" to Austin and Waco.
Toyota Music Factory's Stumpy's will be near Texas Lottery Plaza, and beside TCBY. Construction is set to begin in April on a 7,500-square-foot space that's expected to open mid-summer.
Stumpy's trained instructors will be on-site to ensure the harmless and friendly-play of each guest, providing a safe, leisurely venue.
Some locations of Stumpy's have been BYOB, but this one will serve beer and wine.
Other axe-throwing places that have opened around DFW include Bad Axe Throwing in Dallas and Fort Worth, Corky's Gaming Bistro in Grapevine, Texas Axe Throwing in Arlington, and Flying Axe Factory in Fort Worth. We're up on these places because we've diligently, dutifully written about them all. AxeThrowingMap.
David Rzepski, a partner with Dallas Axe LLC, which is opening the concept, says in a statement that Toyota Music Factory is a natural fit.
"Forget bowling or throwing darts," he says. "For nights on the town, bachelor/bachelorette parties, team bonding and celebrations of all kinds, ax-throwing has now become the activity people are doing for fun."
