This week Uptown is throwing a three-day bash to honor everything Dallasites enjoy about the neighborhood. The second annual Celebrate Uptown is divided up by dining, shopping and concerting — yes, that’s a word — to showcase that Uptown is the most happening place to be in Dallas.

The dining portion takes place April 24 from 7 to 10 pm, with a two-course meal at a handful of restaurants, including Arcodoro Pomodoro, Belly & Trumpet and Palomino, for $45. Of course, it shouldn’t take you the whole three hours to eat, which is why there’s an after-party at Sambuca with a dessert buffet, live music and a champagne cocktail.

April 25 is for shoppers looking for a few deals. Give your tax return some breathing room in West Village, where you can get 20 percent off from 6 to 8 pm among participating shops like Kendra Scott, L. Bartlett and Rye 51.

Plus, the first 100 shoppers to take their receipts from one of the stores to the south alley will receive a gift bag with gift cards and swag from Uptown retailers. The event is as free as you want it to be.

Friday night you can jam out to the best of the ’80s with cover band The Spazmatics. One of the liveliest bands around, the Spazmatics will almost definitely play “Your Love” by The Outfield. If they don’t, you can riot.

For $10 general admission, you get the concert plus access to food trucks and alcohol. For those looking for the VIP treatment, a $40 ticket gets you four complimentary wine and beer tickets plus a private bar and food from Max’s Wine Dive, Salata and a few more.

Doors open at 5 pm with Tape Mastah Steph; The Spazmatics go on at 8. There’s also a $5 raffle with a package that includes the following:

  • A two-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, and breakfast for two
  • Four tickets to Theatre Three
  • $100 Uber gift certificate
  • Dinner for two at Dragonfly
  • $25 Momo’s Pasta gift certificate
  • $50 Truluck’s gift certificate
  • $30 Ginger Man gift certificate
  • $150 Capital Grille gift certificate
  • Two tickets to Food Tours of America

That is already a lot of stuff. But we're sweetening the pot by also hosting a contest for a $500 Uber gift card if you come talk to us at the concert. Know anybody who's a fan of free rides in fancy cars?
