Tesar on TV
Dallas chef John Tesar to appear on Bravo TV's Watch What Happens Live
Colorful Dallas chef John Tesar gets another shot on TV on Wednesday, May 9, when he'll appear on Bravo TV's Watch What Happens Live at 10 pm CT. According to the schedule, he'll serve as bartender on the nightly talk show hosted by Bravo executive Andy Cohen.
Tesar is already in New York City this week for a champagne-themed dinner he'll be preparing at the James Beard House on May 10. His menu will feature seafood, the theme of his Preston Center restaurant Spoon.
Tesar's larger-than-life personality was there for all to see last year when he was a contestant on Top Chef Seattle, so he surely made an impression on Cohen. But if you followed Tesar on Twitter, you might've noticed (or even been skeezed out by) a months-long Andy Cohen wooing campaign, with frequent tweets to @BravoAndy, occasionally ending with the hashtag #loveandycohen.
WWHL fans know that the show usually features two guests, with a third wild-card character standing behind a faux bar serving as bartender. Wednesday night's guests will be Alyson Hannigan from American Pie and Zachary Quinto from Star Trek.
Obviously Tesar will use the opportunity to mention his James Beard dinner, but one wonders which meme will surface: Will it be the somewhat-dated glasses on his forehead shtick; or will he show up with a bottle of pickles? His recent tweet gives a pretty telling clue:
@bravoandy @bravotopchef #haircut .. I just got a haircut to come and bartend tomorrow night on WWHL #loveandycohen twitter.com/ChefJohnTesar/…
