New Dallas Mavs website, NSYNC reunion rumors and more links we love right now
Editor's note: There's so much that's beautiful, funny, smart and informative on the Internet. Problem is, there's also a bunch of garbage. Here's the best of the web right now.
1. Dallas Mavericks launch fancy new website. Just because the team didn't sign a big superstar this offseason doesn't mean we can't celebrate the nearing of a new NBA season. Your 2011 NBA Champions are looking pretty good with pages dedicated to news, fans and, of course, the Dallas Mavericks dancers.
2. Prince William and Catherine release first royal family photo. Britain's newest royal recently engaged in an age-old tradition: posing for a family photo. William and Catherine opted for a casual shot in the park, with little Prince George wrapped in white and their dog, Lupo, sitting beside them. In an interview with CNN, William discussed normal fatherhood tasks, such as comforting a screaming baby and adjusting the car seat.
3. NSYNC reunion rumored for MTV's 2013 Video Music Awards. Rumors are flying that Justin Timberlake will be joined by former bandmates J.C. Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick for the Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 25. Timberlake is up for six awards and is also being honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award.
4. Forty maps that explain the world. It's no secret that we love a good map. But this latest collection from the Washington Post seemingly answers every major question in the world today. Topics include who loves and hates America, where people are the most racially tolerant, best places to be born, and North Korea's missile range.
5. Red Sox pitcher Ryan Dempster suspended five games for A-Rod hit. Life isn't getting any easier for Alex Rodriguez. MLB has announced a 211-game suspension for its highest paid player for allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs. Rodriguez is allowed to play while he appeals the ruling, but his fellow major leaguers aren't too keen on that arrangement, as evidenced by Red Sox Ryan Dempster's pitches to A-Rod's knees and elbows.
6. TCU sorority girls struggle with running. Oh, Greek life. You are so full of traditions and merry making. The newest Panhellenic members at TCU were running to their respective sorority houses in a ceremonial dash of acceptance. Too bad someone didn't do a better job of covering up the electrical cords used to blast encouraging country music. Because the race did not end well for many a sister.
