Concerts on the Chevy Main Stage and other performances won't be the only music happening at the State Fair of Texas this year, as American Idol will hold auditions for its upcoming 14th season at Fair Park on September 26 and 27.
The auditions will be a true cattle call, as anybody between the ages of 15 and 28 who attends the fair on those two days can audition, providing they meet certain other criteria. No prior registration is needed; just go to the Coliseum Terrace, just outside the Coliseum, anytime between 10 am and 6 pm each day and you can get a chance to shine.
American Idol has been holding auditions at county and state fairs around the country all summer long, and the stop in Dallas is the final one before the next stage in the audition process.
Anyone who dreams of meeting Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. or Ryan Seacrest should temper those expectations, however; initial auditions are usually held in front of producers, with the ones you see on TV happening at a later date in a different location.
As luck would have it, those first two days of the fair will feature performances by acts who know reality TV singing competitions well. The Swon Brothers, who finished in third place on Season 4 of The Voice, will play the Chevy Main Stage on September 26, while American Idol Season 3 winner Fantasia will do the same on September 27.
