A Very Ewing Christmas
Southfork Christmas brings a little Dallas to the holidays
There are plenty of great holiday traditions in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but it's not often a new one is started at an iconic location. That's happening this year with A Southfork Christmas at Southfork Ranch, which takes place every Friday and Saturday night November 29 through December 21.
The ranch, located in Parker just east of Plano, will be dressed in its holiday best, but the centerpiece will be the entertainment. Twenty-five actors from ArtCentre Theatre of Plano will perform seven different Christmas-themed vignettes, including a cowboy Christmas, the Roaring 20s, World War II, the 1950s and, naturally, one that references Dallas.
All of the vignettes will be performed at various outdoor pavilions on the ranch, accessed by tram from the main house. After the performances, visitors will return to Southfork's Santa's Village, which will have carolers, shopping, activities for kids, and food and drink available for purchase. There will also be places set up to write holiday cards to military members stationed away from their families.
Although you'll be in the presence of the famed house at Southfork Ranch, none of the activities will actually take place inside. Anyone wanting to take a peek at where J.R. and Bobby have done all their wheelings and dealings will want to visit during the day for one of the ranch's normal tours.
Tickets for A Southfork Christmas are free for kids 4 and under, $7 for kids 5-12, $9 for seniors and $12 for anyone over 13. Reservations, which are recommended, can be made online at www.southfork.com or by calling (972) 442-7800.
Guests who bring an unwrapped toy will receive a free pass for a future tour of Southfork Ranch.
