Dueling piano bar departs longtime Addison home for Star in Frisco
There's good news in the dueling piano bar world, but also a bit of sad news. Good news first: Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar, the Austin-based dueling piano bar chain, is opening a location at The Star in Frisco.
According to a release, it'll open in late 2022, at 6765 Winning Drive #810.
UPDATE 1-9-2023: Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar in Frisco is now open. Partners Greg Sacony and Corey Urbach have teamed up with David Lam Nguyen (Snowbird, Barcadia), James Hoffman (Varsity Tavern, Freshly Laid in Arizona), and Austin Walter (Freshly Laid and Low Key Piano Bar in Tempe). Frisco is the first Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar to feature a food menu in addition to their drink menu.
It's a relocation of Pete's location in Addison at 4980 Belt Line Rd. Pete's owner Corey Urbach says in a statement that the relocation is a reflection of shifting demographics.
"When we opened our Addison location 21 years ago, Dallas had not yet experienced the explosive growth we’ve seen in the past decade," Urbach says. "Over the recent years, we have noticed more and more of our clientele coming from a larger radius in North Texas so when a spot opened up at The Star in Frisco we felt it was the perfect fit to offer a more centrally located destination for our guests in a new and improved building as well."
“Although it is bittersweet to close the doors at this location, we are thrilled to relocate just 15 minutes up the road and provide our guests with a larger, brand new space and all the bells and whistles to make the experience even better," Urbach says.
It'll be a 5,400-square-foot space with seating for 300, with high-quality sound, lighting, audio/visual equipment, and acoustics.
Frisco will also be the first Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar to feature a food menu in addition to their drinks. They'll also launch a companion ghost kitchen at this location, for private events in Frisco and Fort Worth.
The Pete's in Frisco will also replace what was originally going to be a location of Low Key Piano Bar, another dueling piano concept based in Tempe, Arizona, from Dallas restaurateur David Nguyen. He will partner on Pete's instead.
Pete's was founded in Austin in 1992 and is known for its high-spirited show with players performing greatest hits. Attendees are encouraged to sing and dance their hearts out. Unsurprisingly, they're a destination for birthday parties and group events.
Addison was the second location when it opened in 2001. There are also Pete's locations in Fort Worth, Houston, and Chicago.
