    Where To Shop Now

Where to shop in Dallas right now: 9 must-hit stores for January

    Diana Oates
    Jan 8, 2015 | 3:46 pm

This time of year, we fashionistas are on a mission to clear out our closets and make room for something — or many things — new. But we're also tight on funds from our holiday spending. So for this edition of Where To Shop, in addition to the new stores, we threw in a few old favorites having sales. Happy shopping.

    Athleta Turtle Creek Village
The new year is the right time to step up your exercise game, and now you have a good excuse to shop for workout clothes too. Athleta just opened a new store on Oak Lawn Avenue, featuring the new, boldly printed floral flow collection that ensures you will be the envy of everyone at the gym.

    Double R by Ravi Ratan
For 2015, the custom clothier is rolling out something new: cashmere sweaters. Just like you do for the dress shirts, you pick the silhouette, color, fit and even a monogram. Look through samples in the new Plaza at Preston Center shop, where the staff is waiting to get you fitted for a little piece of luxury that will keep you warm this winter. Prices start at $450.

    ESPA at The Joule
Believe us when we tell you that these are some of the best products we've ever purchased. Even better: Through January 31, when you buy any two ESPA products, you get the Detox Salt Scrub for free. Buy the products online or when you visit the spa. We recommend the Optimal Skin ProSerum ($85) and the Hydrating Cleansing Milk ($46) — hands-down the most hydrating facial cleanser we've tried.

    Five and Ten
Dallas shoppers are mourning the loss of Number One and Chapter Two, but owner Brian Bolke announced recently that ATM Clothing, Egg Press, Loren Stewart and S. Perfume brands are moving to his other Highland Park Village shop, Five and Ten. We're also rejoicing at the arrival of Aurelie Bidermann's jewelry line.

    Hollywood Feed
New to Lakewood, Hollywood Feed is a one-stop shop for all things pet. Whether you need food, treats, bedding or grooming tools, this store has it all — including Mississippi Made beds in all shapes, colors and sizes. If you are just now hearing about Hollywood Feed and don't live in Lakewood, don't worry: There are locations in Oak Lawn and on West Lovers Lane near Love Field.

    J.McLaughlin
We love this Plaza at Preston Center store because we believe in stocking up on staples in myriad colors. Now is the time to shop J.McLaughlin, because it is having a rare, up-to-60-percent-off sale. Resort has landed in store as well, including pieces in silky fabrics that never wrinkle and adorable prints in new cuts. The sale runs through the end of January.

    Rio Ritz Boutique
This month is turning out to be chillier than most Dallasites can handle, so head to this Free People-esque shop in Uptown to get your cold weather wear, from felt hats and vibrant scarves to warm and cozy vests. There probably will be a glass of wine waiting for you when you walk in the door too. The best part is that Rio Ritz carries quality clothing without the steep price tags.

    St. Bernard Sports
Our favorite winter wear shop is having a Midnight Madness sale January 23-25 at the Inwood Village location and the outlet at the Shops at Park Lane. Get 20 percent off the entire store — the first and only markdowns during ski season. The discount also applies to anything currently on sale. On Friday, January 23, both stores will be open until midnight, and there will be snacks and interactive video games.

    Tootsies
As if you needed a reason to shop at Tootsies. Savvy stylists can help you find a fresh look for the new year. Or, if custom is what you desire, then attend the Tom and Linda Platt trunk show January 22-24. Flip through books of looks, fabric and more to create the perfect dress for any occasion.

Hello Kitty fans, get ready to say hey. The beloved pink Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is rolling back into Dallas-Fort Worth.

The boutique and cafe on wheels, which has built a devoted following for its Instagram-ready sweets and collectible merch, is continuing its 2026 U.S. tour with two upcoming North Texas stops - one in Plano and one in Fort Worth.

According to a release, the truck will first visit The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano on Saturday, April 25, setting up on the lawn near The District from 10 am-7 pm.

It will return to North Texas the following weekend with a stop at The Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth on Saturday, May 2, where it’ll park on the grassy lot at the corner of Marathon Avenue and Ozona Street, also from 10 am-7 pm.

The visit is part of the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck’s 10th anniversary tour, and devotees can expect a lineup of themed treats and limited-edition merchandise to mark the milestone.

New items for this stop include a Hello Kitty Cafe zip sweatshirt, mugs, and T-shirts, alongside anniversary-branded collectibles such as keychains, thermal bottles, tumblers, blankets, and plush toys.

On the sweeter side, the truck will offer 10th anniversary cookies, five-piece macaron sets, and classic Madeleines.

As with past visits, those hoping to snag the most coveted items should plan to arrive early - lines can stretch long, and popular merchandise often sells out before the day is done.

One important note: the truck is cashless and will accept only credit and debit cards.

After its Fort Worth appearance, the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will continue on to Oklahoma City on May 9.
