Dallas-born boho clothing line gets a proper storefront in Oak Cliff
After nearly five years as an online-only boutique, Winter Lennon has opened a storefront in Oak Cliff filled with lacy tunics, scarves, and bohemian dresses.
Owner and creative director Lindsay Duncan started the vintage-inspired clothing brand while on bed rest when carrying her twin girls, Winter and Lennon. Duncan started by making lacy boot socks and shipping them out of her house.
As Winter Lennon grew to include more women’s and kids’ clothing, Duncan went looking for warehouse space. The Oak Cliff native found 6,500 square feet in her own neighborhood two years ago, and she used it to grow her business. Now, Winter Lennon has opened the front 700 square feet as a retail boutique.
“I always wanted a storefront for the brand,” Duncan says. “Oak Cliff is growing so quickly, and the small business culture supports all the great shops and restaurants here.”
The brand’s name isn’t the only family aspect of Winter Lennon. Duncan’s mom works at the store full time, and her husband built all the clothing racks, displays, and picture frames decorating the space. While the clothes are manufactured in China, Duncan designs about 75 percent of the line, which is carried in boutiques around the country.
Duncan hopes to add a couple of jewelry lines in upcoming weeks and will launch new styles of her most popular product — lacy dress extenders perfect for layering — in November.
On Saturday, September 24, from 10 am-1 pm, Winter Lennon is hosting a grand opening ceremony with cupcakes, mimosas, and 20 percent off all clothes. The store is located at 606 N. Edgefield Ave. and will be open 10 am-7 pm Monday-Saturday.
