    Rachael Abrams
    Dec 4, 2013 | 9:59 am

December is the time of year when our shopping excursions become gift-finding missions. Whether you're looking for friends, family, a significant other or yourself, we recommend hitting new boutiques and revisiting old favorites. Have yourself a merry little shopping extravaganza at these 10 Dallas stores.

    Banana Republic
Beginning December 5, Banana Republic's L'Wren Scott collection is available in stores and online. The designer, known for her stunning red-carpet gowns, created a colorful collection for the mid-priced retailer. Think sequins, jacquard, and lots of pink and red.

    Canary
Stylemaker Merry Vose is at it again. After building a strong clientele at Cabana, she opened a second boutique boasting pieces from up-and-coming designers. The chic space, splashed with canary yellow and elegant art, is filled with finds from Nilli Lotan, The Row x Linda Farrow, Each X Other and Crippen.

    Chapter Two
Need a gift for the gal who has everything? Brian Bolke's new bookstore, next-door to Number One, carries a plethora of magazines and exquisite books by esteemed publishers. Chapter Two's eclectic collection includes tomes on architecture, cooking, fashion and interior design that anyone would be proud to place on the coffee table.

    Ermenegildo Zegna
Nestled in the heart of Highland Park Village, Ermenegildo Zegna offers luxury menswear straight from Italy. Think made-to-measure and day-to-night looks in a variety of rich textures and soft fabrics. Zegna also carries fragrances, leather accessories, eyewear and shoes.

    Hadleigh's Baby
Hadleigh's has opened a pop-up shop for tots near the original in Highland Park Village. You won't see anything less than luxurious here, including Italian cashmere blankets, baby slippers and clothing, as well as children's wear from Little Bean — which moved into Hadleigh's after closing its Junius Heights location. Shop through January 4, 2014.

    Kendra Scott
The Austin-born jewelry designer has introduced a new Luxe Collection to her long list of must-have baubles. The new collection has a special-occasion feel, with fine gemstones in a variety of rich hues, unique cuts and intricate textures, priced from $175 to $1,000.

    Kim Hoegger Home
Owner Kim Hoegger has more than 25 years of experience in the interior design business. At her new storefront on Henderson Avenue, she offers design services; vintage finds; new furniture, wall covering and fabric from Thibaut; Amy Howard paint and furniture finishes; and Pine Cone Hill bedding.

    Run On
Runners will rejoice upon entrance to Run On's new 5,000-square-foot store in Frisco, the ninth locale in Texas. Run On offers a wide selection of shoes and apparel from beloved athletic brands such as Mizuno, Nike, New Balance and more. If you're not sure how to choose the right shoes, experts can help you find the perfect fit.

    Nasher Store Holiday Pop-up Shop
One of our favorite gift shops has popped up at NorthPark Center just in time for the holidays. Find unique home decor, artwork and jewelry from the likes of Paul Schneider, Jonathan Cross, Nicole Porter and B.Stellar.

    Neiman Marcus
Neiman Marcus fashion director Ken Downing has curated a special collection of gifts for the holiday season, ranging from handbags and jewelry to pajamas, sweaters and home decor. With pieces from the likes of Tory Burch, Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Adler, Bedhead and Nest, you can find something stylish for everyone on your list.

Dallas thrift chain Goodwill to open new location in former Big Lots

A new destination for bargain hunters is coming to Carrollton: Goodwill Industries of Dallas will debut a new store at 3621 N. Josey Ln., in what was previously a Big Lots store. Still sad about losing Big Lots.

According to a release, the new Goodwill will be a "state-of-the-art" store and donation drop-off center and will open on June 5.

This store will be Goodwill Industries of Dallas' 19th location in its eight-county service area and will be a one-stop shop for affordable goods, including clothing, household items, and electronics.

A donation drop-off center will feature a drive-thru and online receipt process. That online receipt process must be what makes it state-of-the-art. (That is only a guess since their PR team was unavailable for comment.)

Goodwill President & CEO Tim Heis says in a statement that they're thrilled to open a second store in Carrollton, to support their ongoing reuse and recycling of donations as well as helping individuals be employed.

"Every purchase made, and every item donated directly supports our free career training and job placement programs, making a tangible difference in the lives of many," Heis says.

The new Carrollton store is specifically part of Goodwill Industries of Dallas, which has 19 locations including Mesquite, Irving, Plano, Garland, Frisco, Lewisville, Denton, and more.

Goodwill Industries of Dallas has been operating since 1923, providing workforce development training, programs, and support services for individuals facing barriers to employment. It currently operates in eight counties across North Texas: Dallas, Ellis, Kaufman, Navarro, Rains, Rockwall, and parts of Collin and Denton counties.

There is also a separate Goodwill North Central Texas, which is basically "Fort Worth" and has 27 locations of its own.
