Favorite Dallas spa expands to second location in cool shopping complex
Dallas will get sooooo much more relaxed with a second location of beloved Hiatus Spa + Retreat, which will open in spring 2019 in a buzzy shopping complex across town from the flagship.
The new 5,454-square-foot Hiatus will settle into The Hill, at 8041 Walnut Hill Ln., near US-75.
It joins five other locations — the 11-year-old original spa in Dallas' Inwood Village, as well as Plano, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. A Fort Worth location also is expected to open next spring.
The new Dallas spa will have 16 treatment rooms — including a couple’s suite and hydrotherapy — a nail therapy lounge with four zero-gravity chairs, a relaxation area, and separate men’s and women’s dressing rooms.
The space is being designed by Austin-based Karen Kopicki of Kopicki Design and will feature original artwork by Texas artist Jan Heaton.
"It’s been 11 years since we first opened our doors at the original Hiatus Spa + Retreat in Inwood Village," says Hiatus co-owner Sheila Garrison in a release. "So many wonderful guests have contributed to our growth in Dallas and across Texas over the years, and we are thrilled to announce that we are expanding in Dallas."
The Hill, which used to be home to businesses such as Dave & Buster's, is a groovy enclave of restaurants, shops, and gathering spaces with an authentic, funky, and preservation-minded design. Until recently, it was anchored by eco-conscious home-improvement store TreeHouse.
Garrison says it was an ideal fit for Hiatus.
"We looked for the right location for more than a year before finding the perfect spot," she says. "The Hill has done a terrific job of retrofitting the beautiful midcentury modern shopping center and curating just the right tenants — it’s a perfect fit for Hiatus."
Hiatus is known for its subscription program called H-Circle. H-Circle members choose one signature “Essential Service” each month, which can include the Signature Massage, Tailor-Made Facial, One & Only Mani-Pedi, Body Glow, or the Body Wrap. The membership is $69 per month and also includes special discounted pricing for members on all treatments and 10 percent off all retail products.
All 60-minute services at Hiatus include a purifying foot soak ritual and the signature hand and foot massage, along with a sensory journey and customized aromatherapy.
Premium services include The Yours Truly Massage ($190 for 80 minutes, $139 for H-Circle members); The Perfectionist Facial ($150 for 60 minutes, $109 for H-Circle members); and The Kindred Spirits couples massage ($120 for 60 minutes, $79 for H-Circle members); along with the acclaimed Monthly Retreat — a hybrid massage, scrub, and Vichy shower treatment created each month with seasonal ingredients and finished with a handcrafted cocktail ($195, $139 for H-Circle members).
Hiatus Spa + Retreat was founded in Dallas in 2007 by Garrison and Kristin Peabody, along with partner Bill Garrison. The brand has received numerous accolades, including the 2013 Innovate Award from the International Spa Association; and American Spa Magazine's Favorite Day Spa 2016.
