French fashion blogger Garance Dore can't live without love, laughter or hercamera

French fashion blogger, illustrator, photographer, stylist and CFDA award winner Garance Dore has landed in Dallas. It is her first trip to Texas, in fact. So of course we had to ask: What does she think about Texas and our style?

“I think they are very fashionable and well put together,” says Dore, who is here for a personal appearance at Neiman Marcus NorthPark October 25. “Dallas seems like a very nice city to live in, and people are very happy to be here. The lifestyle must be very good and sweet. And, the food is delicious!”

Dore says she’s very curious to see how people “live” fashion here. “It’s very interesting because I’ve been talking with the crew at Neiman Marcus, and they’re really able to articulate the differences between Dallas and other cities,” she says, “I think that’s what’s fascinating about coming to a city to work. You’re able to get in touch with the real culture.”

“Dallas seems like a very nice city to live in, and people are very happy to be here,” Dore says. “The lifestyle must be very good and sweet.”

In fact, a city’s culture means everything to Dore, who began her career as an illustrator. In 2006, she launched the blog that bears her name because she was residing in a small city where she wasn’t getting the access and connection to the public she desired in her profession.

“I wanted to be able to share my illustrations with people around the world without the filter of a magazine,” Dore says. This is right in line with her favorite fictional character, Cate Blanchett’s role in The Aviator, whom she admires simply because “she wasn’t afraid to go after her dream.”

Now Dore travels all over the world, often with her boyfriend, fellow blogger, photographer and author Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist. Her most prized possession on her travels? “I would really miss it if I wasn’t able to capture what I’m living, so either my camera or my iPhone camera,” she says. “I always like to have something when I can record my thoughts or take a picture. I hate to be without anything.”

After attending fashion week and styling shoots around the globe, Dore shares her fall wardrobe favorites. “I will be wearing a lot of burgundy, a beautiful coat and peplum skirts,” she says. “And I can’t live without a well-tailored blazer.” She admits her own personal style icon is Katharine Hepburn and finds other wardrobe inspiration on Tumblr.

At the end of the day, Dore says she chooses to live her life by one of the most liberating of mottos. “Life worth living is where you love and you laugh,” says Dore, “Those are two of the most important things in my life.”

    ---

Meet Garance Dore at Neiman Marcus NorthPark October 25, 6:30-8:30 pm, in Designer Sportswear, Level 3.

Irish discount fashion giant Primark to open 3rd Dallas-Fort Worth store

Primark will open its third DFW store in Arlington in late June.

International clothing chain Primark is planting a flag in Arlington. The Irish retailer known for trendy clothes at value prices will open a store at The Parks at Arlington mall on June 25, according to a release.

It will be the brand's third store in Dallas-Fort Worth, after a location in Grapevine Mills that opened in December 2025 and one at Northeast Mall in Hurst that followed in April 2026.

Primark is a massive European retailer famous for its low-cost, high-turnover approach to home goods, everyday essentials, and fashion — think women’s jeans for $12, men’s T-shirts for $5, and kids’ sweatshirts for $8. Less than the cost of a meal at the food court, but also part of the "fast fashion" industry that critics say contributes to textile waste around the world.

Founded in Ireland in 1969 under the Penneys brand, Primark aims to provide affordable choices for everyone, from everyday essentials to stand-out style across women's, men's and kids, as well as beauty, homeware, and accessories.

Primark has been in expansion mode in the United States and across Texas; there will now be 42 U.S. stores and six in Texas, with more to come.

"Primark's keen on continuing its Texas expansion," says Kevin Tulip, president of Primark US, in the release. "We've seen first-hand the importance of providing fashion that doesn't break the bank at our stores in the Dallas Fort-Worth area, and we want to continue to fulfill that need. It's incredible to become a part of these communities and be able to offer families a wide selection of trending fashion and everyday essentials at exceptional value."

The 30,000-square-foot Arlington store will debut with Primark's summer collection, "The Get Away." The release notes that the collection "features standout pieces such as a striped embroidered maxi dress ($30), finished with wave-inspired detailing. Embroidered separates appear throughout the range, all designed for effortless summer dressing. The must-have silhouette of the season is the striped midi dress crafted with 100% cotton ($25). The collection is finished with accessories, swimwear and matching family looks, offering something for everyone this summer."

Primark in Arlington will open with fanfare at 10:30 am June 25, with a ribbon cutting, local treats, and other fun giveaways - first come, first served, they say.

The store is now hiring for several roles.
