Katherine Hooker brings her signature British designs to Dallas and falls inlove with the Cowboys
British designer Katherine Hooker received a proper Dallas welcome at a private cocktail party and trunk show hosted by Gene Jones, Charlotte Anderson and sportscaster (and loyal customer) Michele Tafoya.
Guests including Candice Romo, Jennifer Counce, Nancy Dedman, Brill Garrett, Susan Hayner, Lana Andrews and Sue Justice fancied the fabrics — ranging from heavyweight tweeds to cashmeres, lambswool, herringbone linen and matka silks — sourced from the British Isles.
Back across the pond, Hooker dresses the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa Middleton in signature tweed coats and blazers. But it was a certain sports figure — and his wife — that caught Hooker’s attention here in Dallas.
“It was so exciting to meet the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys,” Hooker said. “He’s like the prince of Dallas, and his wife is Dallas’ answer to Kate Middleton.
“I talked to the head of the cheerleaders. It was such a fascinating experience. The culture just doesn’t exist anywhere else but in America, and Dallas is the epitomy of it.”
If you missed the designer’s trunk show at Elements this past weekend, don’t fret. You can view the ready-to-wear collection online and order made-to-measure pieces through the Katherine Hooker website anytime. All shipping and fees are included in the cost, as Hooker sees it fit for catering to her overseas customers.
