If anything has changed in the past few years, it’s how Texans stay connected. With advanced technology and faster Internet speeds, we have access to almost anything, anywhere, anytime, all in the palm of our hands.

We have the ability to communicate with family and friends, buy and sell stocks, check the sports scores for favorite teams, shop for clothes and explore the world, all on the same device. All these new capabilities have created a new problem — “power anxiety” — when consumers begin to notice power on their mobile devices drops below 50 percent, and how that feeling escalates as the power level drops into the red.

Texans certainly keep busy schedules and have even busier lifestyles, and when we need more power, being tethered to an outlet or wall charger isn’t ideal (think about sitting on the floor in a less-than-optimal location) or even an option at all. It just makes sense that a power company would deliver solutions to the problem.

Power at Home, at Work, and On the Go
At Reliant, we have stepped up to deliver solutions in a big way. Our newest innovative electricity plan provides power to your home and gives you portable power technology to charge your mobile devices, wherever life takes you.

The Reliant Power on the Go plan combines a great fixed-rate plan for home electricity and, to ensure Texans stay powered on the go and while away from outlets, it includes a portable solar power kit valued at $400. The portable solar power kit is simple to use and includes a lightweight 5200mAh power pack and a power inverter to keep tablets, phones, and most laptops charged up anytime, anywhere.

The power pack’s capacity is enough to charge a phone to full up to five times. The kit also includes a durable 13-watt foldable solar panel to recharge the power pack if you’re outside in the sun, giving you the ability and freedom to be on the go for even longer.

Powering Visitors at the Dallas Zoo
Portable power sure comes in handy on day trips around Dallas, and the Dallas Zoo is one of the city’s most popular destinations. The largest zoological park in Texas houses more than 2,000 animals and is a perfect venue for taking exciting photographs and sharing precious moments – that is, if your mobile device is charged!

To keep visitors powered on the go, Reliant has donated two NRG Street Charge® stations to the Dallas Zoo, which will be located at the Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo and Wilds of Africa Grill. The 12.5-foot towers are equipped with solar panels and a bevy of mobile charging cables so zoo visitors can plug in for a free charge. Now guests can enjoy their zoo outing without missing a beat or a photo with their favorite animal.

The NRG Street Charge stations come at an opportune time as the Dallas Zoo continues to break attendance records, having received more than 1 million annual visitors in 2015, a first in its 128-year history. With attendance already on the rise in 2016, more and more visitors can now experience the attractions with confidence that their devices will keep powered.

    “One of a Kind” Solutions
All our offerings are designed with Texans in mind, recognizing we each use technology in our own way. In fact, our new “One of a Kind” campaign is all about how Reliant offers different plans and services that cater to Texans from all walks of life — from working moms and young professionals, to cowboys and truck drivers and more. Check them out by visiting reliant.com/oneofakind, and leave a comment below to let us know what you think.

These are a few examples of how Reliant is more than “just” an electricity company and the types of benefits we offer to every customer. We take seriously our responsibility to provide new, customer-friendly solutions that enable today’s mobile-driven world and fit every Texan’s lifestyle. After all, Texas, we are Texan too — and, just like you, totally one of a kind.
