Young professionals may fight over this $190,000 downtown Dallas condo
An ideal starter home has just come on the market: unit 905 at Soco Urban Lofts, located at 1122 Jackson St. in downtown Dallas. It’s compact at 933 square feet, but it’s all a young professional really needs — and, at $190,000, it’s also affordable.
The condo, listed with Jennifer Shindler of Dave Perry-Miller, contains many of the must-have features young homebuyers seek, including granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and custom cabinets in the kitchen; exposed brick walls; and polished concrete floors. It’s contemporary but hardly cold.
The efficiency-style layout leaves room for ample seating in the living area, a queen-size bed in the sleeping area, and a desk for paying bills or working from home. Even the bathroom is surprisingly large for a home of this size. Entertaining? Everyone can grab a seat at the bar-height island that doubles as storage.
The Omni and Aloft hotels are within sight; however, a sleeper sofa would do just fine for guests. And because you’ll be living so close to the action, you’re bound to have a few.
Amenities and HOA fees are also deciding factors for condo buyers, and this property has monthly dues of $353. That covers access to the rooftop pool, daytime concierge, and onsite gym. Each unit also has an assigned covered parking spot.
“This condo will fly off of the market. It is a great entry-level price point, in growing and vibrant downtown,” Shindler says. “Those who buy into the neighborhood are sure to see a return on their investment in the future.”
Since this story was first published, the condo has gone under contract. However, there’s a slightly larger listing in the same building for $249,000. And, just for fun, compare that to a listing from last summer, with the same square footage, which was going for $224,000.
