Ambitious new project The Mix breaks ground at frazzled Frisco corner
A massive new development has broken ground in Frisco: Called The Mix, it's a $3 billion 112-acre mixed-experience community that will revive a promising plot of land with a complicated past.
Located at Dallas Parkway and Lebanon Road in Frisco’s North Platinum Corridor, The Mix is the savior rescuing the corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Lebanon Road that was once slated to be the ill-fated Wade Park development.
It ws originally supposed to break ground in December 2022 and be completed in 2026. Obviously that is pushed back, and there's no word on the updated completion date.
The plan is for an 8-acre park surrounded by retail, office, medical, hotel, and residential. The first phase, on which they've broken ground, encompasses 28 of the northernmost acres along Lebanon Road.
Head of development Tim Campbell says in a statement that they're excited to begin construction and bring the project to life.
"This piece of land has been a troubled spot for Frisco for years, and we are happy to create something beautiful and useful here, delivering what the Frisco community has long awaited," Campbell says. "The Mix will revitalize this part of the city by incorporating inviting open spaces, striking architectural design and amenities. It will be a beautiful asset to Frisco.”
The Mix will have:
- 2 million-plus square feet of office space
- 375,000 square feet of retail including grocery store, a 400-450-key business hotel, and 200-key boutique hotel
- 3 million square feet of residential
The Mix’s master plan was designed by Torti Gallas + Partners, whose senior principal Neal Payton says in a statement that they're thrilled that The Mix has reached this milestone, and are eager to see it come to fruition.
That 8-acre central park will have an event lawn and performance pavilion, playgrounds, and promenades, and the project overall will have more than 16 acres of green open space.
The Mix will also be home to an urban retail plaza and a 3,000-space subterranean garage within its business district, with access to the Dallas North Tollway. The below-grade parking will allow commuters, residents, and visitors direct access to the development while eliminating congestion within the working parts of the community.
