New sports bar debuts in Plano with beers on tap and tons of TVs
A new casual sports bar has opened in Plano with more than 30 TVs showing all the games your heart desires.
Called Woodtop Tavern, it's at 8408 Preston Rd., in the Preston Creek Shopping Center, next door to Turkish Café & Lounge. That's no coincidence: It's from the same owner, Mehmet Shon Celik.
Woodtop has a kitchen and full bar with 10 beers on tap and more in the bottle, plus wine, creative cocktails, and all your favorite spirits.
There are two pool tables, a jukebox, a 2,000-square-foot patio, and a stage for live music entertainment on the weekends.
According to a release, it's open for lunch, dinner, and stays open late at night.
The menu goes for something for everyone. Appetizers range from fried pickles to mozzarella sticks to nachos to Thai-style spring rolls to Italian bruschetta.
Larger plates include pizza, tacos, six specialty burgers, chicken wings, grilled fish, and a 10-ounce New York strip.
Celik, who opened Turkish Cafe in 2013, says he's aiming to create a "go-to" neighborhood bar.
"I love creating new concepts that are comfortable and inviting and we've done exactly that with Woodtop Tavern," he says. "It's the perfect spot for a happy hour with friends and co-workers, watching your favorite sports team, or just relaxing on the patio with a good drink."
