This tasty Addison event entices you to eat your way around the globe
Make sure you're wearing your stretchy pants on June 3, because that's when 17 of Addison's Village on the Parkway restaurants want to feed you. Pairings on the Parkway is back for its second year, having moved from fall to spring and expanded to include even more delicious food and drink samples.
From 1-5 pm that Saturday, get ready to eat your way through a multitude of cuisines for only $25 (if you purchase your ticket in advance). Last-minute foodies have to a pay a little more ($30) to buy at the event, but it's still worth it.
Why? For the price of about two entrees, hungry attendees can get a taste of the delectable food, craft cocktails, and specialty drinks the participating restaurants are known for. Think Hopdoddy's classic burger and truffle fries; La Comida's brisket or Mayan-style pulled pork mini tacos and a baby Flamingo margarita; or Yard House's Nashville chicken, fried mac and cheese, and Caribbean Breeze and Blackberry Smash cocktails.
And that's only the start. Admission includes a passport that each restaurant will stamp when you visit during the event, making sure you don't miss a morsel. Stop by Saffron House for a kebob roll and samosa, plus a mango margarita or mango lassi. Skip over to Social House, where veggie skewers, chicken and waffle cones, and a Social Swirl are waiting. Take a breather for local beer, a Mexican cocktail, and hush puppies at Flying Fish.
If you need to purchase your passport on June 3, head to the tents in front of the AMC Movie Theatre or Whole Foods Market. And while you're there, drop in for a brisket slider topped with firecracker coleslaw or an open-face field roast slider with Dijon mustard and arugula. Both are paired with a local craft beer.
Local musicians will be performing during the event, adding to the festive air. As always, parking at Village on the Parkway is free and the shopping center is highly walkable, with fountains, flowers, and friendly faces all around. Retailers will also be offering discounts during the event, if you feel like switching from eating to shopping for a bit.
As an added incentive to try as many different restaurants as possible, your vote helps decide the best food and beverage of the day, plus the fan favorite. Last year, La Comida and Yard House walked away with the trophies, and word on the street is that both are eager to repeat their victories. So show up, chow down, and let your stomach be heard this year at Pairings on the Parkway.
