Uchi Dallas Confirmed
Famed chef Tyson Cole to bring Uchi restaurant to Dallas
After dropping hints about a Dallas location for a year, Uchi confirmed the news with an address: 2817 Maple Ave. According to a news release, Tyson Cole's restaurant is slated to open in "late 2014/early 2015," and the cuisine will "meld the best offerings of the first Uchi and Cole's second Austin concept, Uchiko, much like Uchi Houston, which opened February 2012."
The restaurant also dropped the announcement via an @UchiDallas Twitter account:
We are excited to announce our official Uchi Dallas location at 2817 Maple Avenue, slated to open late 2014/early 2015!
— UchiDallas (@UchiDallas) May 31, 2013Uchiko, Cole's follow-up to his first restaurant Uchi, opened in July 2010 in Central Austin. Uchi Houston resides in the former Felix space on Westheimer Road near the corner of Montrose Boulevard, where it melds culinary innovation with an approachable vibe.
Chef Cole's signature menu offerings include hot and cool tastings, makimono, yakimono, tempura, sushi, and sashimi.
2817 Maple Ave. is a weird location at the corner of Randall Street, in what was an office space, which has been vacant for more than a year. "Located in the heart of the Uptown/Turtle Creek area just blocks from the Crescent and walking distance to food and entertainment, this well-maintained building is perfect for the medium-sized company that wants its own identity," says the real estate notice.
