    Beer Mansion

Take a peek inside Beer Mansion, Dallas' choose-your-own-adventure beer party

Beer drinkers, this is your pop-up Disneyland. For the first time ever, Beer Mansion is coming to Dallas, and Brooklyn Brewery is bringing you all the good things in life: arcade games, live music, great food, good vibes, and, of course, plenty of beer.

Beer Mansion is an unconventional, multi-party celebration of brews that's headed to 2616 Commerce St. in Deep Ellum for two days only, June 15-16. What can you expect? The unexpected. But here's the lowdown on the basics:

    Explore four themed areas
There truly is something for everyone, since you get to curate your own experience and choose from four parties, all under one roof.

    • Music lovers should check out The Show, where a lineup of local artists curated by Nine Mile Records will be performing live.
    • Search out eclectic food and goods in The Bazaar, where local Dallas vendors ranging from Good Records to Hypnotic Donuts will be serving up beer ice cream, tabletop games, and more weird and wonderful finds.
    • The Speakeasy does it old-school style, with a transformative room that will be decked out in sultry dark woods, sleek sofas, and refined beers for the mature palate. Plus there will be craft beer cocktails from Balcones Distilling.
    • Lastly, you can chill out in The Arcade, an adult gaming playground for both the casual and hardcore gamers. You'll find cutting-edge consoles and cabinet-style classics you haven't seen since the '80s, supplied by Free Play Arcade.

    Try some beer, obviously
This isn't your typical beer event, with tables stretching endlessly through some bland convention center. Tasting stations will be integrated throughout the mansion, so partygoers can have access to cold ones from seven different breweries including Braindead Brewing, Bishop Cider Company, Lakewood Brewing Company, and Brooklyn Brewery's own array of beers. Ales, lagers, ciders, IPAs — it's all here. Flavors will range from sweet to funky, with everything in between.

    Listen to live music
Check out some of Dallas' hottest live music throughout the weekend. Friday performances include Upsetting, Annabelle Chairlegs, and Not Half Bad. Saturday daytime performances include Mother Tongues, Loafers, and Go Fever. On Saturday night, catch Violent Squid, Duell, and Otis the Destroyer.

    Take in some art
Thanks to Art of the Brew, the Austin-based nonprofit that's dedicated to supporting Texas artists, you can gaze on an array of cool artwork while you sip.

    Eat some tasty grub
All that beer is sure to make you hungry, so enjoy bites from some of Dallas' best restaurants. Snag a poke bowl or street taco from Bowls & Tacos, or down some delicious grub from Mudhen Meat and Greens. Got a sweet tooth? Double up on your carbs with limited-edition doughnuts from Hypnotic Donuts or ice cream from Devious Desserts.

Shop for local goods and other cool stuff
Pop-up shops and goodies from a variety of vendors will be available, including Deep Vellum Publishing, Dallas Pin-Up, and Good Records. There will also be games from Free Play Arcade, Common Ground Games, and card games from Competition Kitchen. Plus don't miss the Blundstone boot photo booth to capture memories of your beer-fueled weekend.

Beer Mansion will offer three separate sessions, giving guests the option of Friday night, Saturday afternoon, or Saturday evening. A portion of sales from regular admission and Tasting Experience tickets will benefit Texas artists through Art of the Brew.

Regular admission is $20, while the Tasting Experience is $35 and includes early entry to the Mansion, access to the Tasters Quarters, a signature Spiegelau tasting glass, swag bag, and one complimentary food item from the vendor of your choice. Food and drink tickets are available onsite for purchase.

Go here to learn more and purchase tickets. Cheers!

Beer Mansion brings you all the good things in life: arcade games, live music, great food, good vibes, and, of course, beer.

El Chingon is coming to Dallas

A Mexican hangout from San Diego is expanding to Dallas: El Chingon, which serves Mexican food, cocktails, and a clubby atmosphere, will open a location near downtown at 3404 Ross Ave., with an opening set for Friday, May 1.

A release describes El Chingon as a high-energy restaurant, bar, and nightlife destination known for its “Bad Ass Mexican” cuisine. The concept was founded in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter in 2017, where it has built a following for its lively programming and street-food menu of tacos, burritos, and shareable bites.

It's part of GBOD Hospitality Group, a San Diego outfit founded by brothers Raymond and Patrick Davoudi, with third partner Joe Santos who own San Diego bars such as Havana and Prohibition Lounge. Dallas is the third El Chingon, following San Diego and Fort Worth, where a location opened in 2020 and is host to many festive events.

As part of the opening celebration, the first 100 guests will get free tacos.

    Food
The location will feature an indoor-outdoor dining experience anchored by a patio-based taco truck kitchen housed in a repurposed shipping container, serving tacos, mulitas, and quesadillas with house-made corn masa tortillas and a choice of proteins including carne asada, al pastor, pollo asado and birria; alongside burritos, loaded fries, and nachos.

    Signature dishes include:

    • quesabirria: Guajillo-braised beef wrapped in Oaxaca cheese in a flour tortilla, with consommé on the side
    • roasted green chile chicken burrito with pinto beans and Oaxaca cheese
    • California burrito with carne asada, french fries, guacamole, crema Mexicana, and Oaxaca cheese
    • Combination plates with tacos, burritos, and fries

    Drink
El Chingon's cocktail program is rooted in tequila and bold, fruit-forward flavors. Highlights include:

    • Madero with house-made watermelon cordial and Tajín
    • Pancho Villa with lime and Jarritos
    • Border Crossing Fruit Cart with tamarind and chamoy
    • Battle of Juárez with guava and fire bitters

Other cocktails include margaritas, Texas Ranch Water, frozen drinks, and large-format shareable towers. All cocktails are available with the “Bad Ass” upgrade, served in a goblet with a Tajín rim, candy straw, and Mexican paleta.

    Location
The Dallas location, which was previously a wholesale florist shop, has been in the works for at least four years. It will span approximately 5,000 square feet, with decor that fuses Mexican cultural motifs with contemporary nightlife elements, including large-scale artwork by Juan Velazquez, colorful sombreros, illuminated lucha libre masks, and multiple TVs — creating an environment equally suited for game days, group outings, and late-night experiences.

    They'll be open 11 am-9 pm Monday-Wednesday and 11 am-2 am Thursday-Sunday.

“El Chingon has always been about creating a place where people can come together for great food, great drinks and a great time,” says GBOD Hospitality Group president and CEO Raymond Davoudi in a statement. "Dallas is a natural next step for the brand, and we’re excited to bring that energy to one of the city’s most dynamic neighborhoods."
