Shark Club sports bar from Canada plots its attack on Plano
A glossy sports bar concept from Canada is set to open in Plano. Shark Club Sports Bar & Grill, owned by Dallas Stars owner Tom Gaglardi, will open in August at 8451 Parkwood Blvd., next to the Sandman Signature Hotel.
Shark Club is a sibling to Moxie's Grill & Bar, another Canadian-born concept from Gaglardi that opened at the Sandman in September 2018.
The Plano Shark Club Sports Bar & Grill will be the first in the United States.
It'll come with more than 40 TVs, including two 20-foot seamless HD media walls. There is also an outdoor patio, an event space, a game room featuring arcade classics, and a live scoreboard for Dallas Stars games.
Its menu shares some dishes with Moxie's — most predictably poutine, the Canadian signature dish in which french fries are topped with cheese curds and gravy.
Other appetizer options include edamame, nachos, sliders with beef and American cheese, fried pickles, blue cheese potato chips, tater tots, build-your-own tacos, pretzels with Guinness beer cheese, calamari, chicken tenders, and wings.
There are half a dozen burgers, including a loaded burger topped with bacon, cheddar, onions, and mushrooms; and a house-made veggie burger with a panko crust.
Sandwiches include roast beef dip, fried chicken, steak sandwich, and chicken quesadilla. There's a trio of pizzas, one topped with spicy chicken.
More traditional American bar bites include chicken wings with 9 flavor varieties; cantina taco platter with choice of chicken or seared tuna; and the "keg of nachos" topped with cheddar, mozzarella, tomatoes, green onions, jalapenos, queso fresco cheese, and sour cream, with the option to add spicy beef or pulled chicken.
Entrée options include burgers, pizza, sandwiches, and salads. Highlight dishes include adult mac n' cheese with bacon, jalapenos, panko, and spicy ketchup.
Beverages include classic cocktails such as Moscow mule, mojito, and old-fashioned. New creations include the Southern Belle with New Amsterdam Gin, St. Germain, lemon, and rose prosecco; and the Cider Sangria with Austin Eastciders, Deep Eddy Peach, fresh watermelon, and orange.
An extensive beer and wine list includes 24 beers on tap with 12 options from local Texas breweries.
Shark Club Bar & Grill was founded in Vancouver in 1993 and now operates 13 corporate and franchise locations in Canada and the United Kingdom.
