Welcome BarnLight Eatery
Another contender for worst restaurant name has opened in Frisco
We need to revise our list of the 10 worst restaurant names in Dallas-Fort Worth, because here is BarnLight Eatery, a "modern Southern" spot now open in Frisco.
Located at Eldorado Parkway and Custer Road, BarnLight is owned by Christina and Philip Doyal. Philip is the chef; Christina is the pastry chef.
Philip follows in the footsteps of his grandmother, who served hot meals to cowboys on the ranch where Philip's grandfather was foreman.
Maybe the ranch background explains the "barn" part, but "barn" in a restaurant name doesn't seem appetizing, even if it is smashed together with "light" to form one word (while keeping the "l" upper-case). "Eatery" instead of restaurant is always distressing.
Signature items include the chipotle bacon burger served on a toasted "artisan bun"; blackened salmon with smoked corn relish; and an open-faced sandwich with steak, egg, arugula and white truffle vinaigrette. Desserts include Key lime pie and vanilla bean crème brûlée.
A Sunday brunch buffet changes weekly, with items such as chicken and mushroom crepes, shrimp Creole, eggs Benedict, and home-style pancakes.
The bar has "house-crafted" cocktails, local beer from Rahr & Sons, and wine from Fall Creek Vineyards in the Hill Country.
