No matter the number of juice bars in Dallas, there is always room for one more to squeeze in. The latest is California-based Nekter Juice Bar, now open in Snider Plaza, selling cold-pressed juices, smoothies, salads and snacks. This is the chain's first location outside its home state.
"We have been positioning ourselves to move out of state for the past year, but exactly where was a big decision," says co-founder Steve Schulze.
"Dallas has always been on our radar from the beginning, when we launched our first store in 2010; the residents in the city and outer suburbs live a metropolitan lifestyle focused on good health and positive living, much like our demographic in Southern California."
With more than 15 stores open throughout California and a recently launched online ordering system, Schulze and his wife, Alexis, plan to open an 12 more stores throughout the country by the end of the year. Nekter is slated to open an additional 70 bars from 2014 to 2015.
So what makes this juice cafe so special?
"It's a place where people can enjoy a wide selection of all-natural drinks, smoothies, acai bowls, salads and other healthy offerings, free of judgment or health stats to intimidate you," quips Schulze.
Along with the Glow, Cure, Buzz, Greenie, Sublime and Toxin Flush fruit and vegetable juices, Nekter offers cleanses; smoothies; wheatgrass and ginger shots; bowls filled with granola, berries and acai; and vegan salads.
"Nekter's new location here is just the beginning of our growth in this part of the country, and we hope to be serving healthy food and drinks to the rest of Texas soon," says Schulze.
The store at 6712 Snider Plaza is now open Monday through Friday, 7 am-7 pm; Saturday, 8 am-7 pm; and Sunday, 8 am-6 pm.
