Polished-casual American restaurant-steakhouse Firebirds fires up in Plano

An American restaurant and steakhouse chain is opening a location in Plano: Called Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, it's known for steaks, seafood, and more cooked over an open flame, and is opening in a newly constructed building at 5400 SH 121.
This will be the second Firebirds in the DFW area; the first opened in Fort Worth's Alliance area in 2022, which was also their Texas debut.
General manager Brandon Emmons says in a statement that he and his team are thrilled to now introduce Firebirds’ elevated experience and local wood-fired flavors to Plano. The restaurant will open on October 30.
Firebirds was founded in 2000 in Charlotte, N.C. by Dennis Thompson, cofounder of Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon and an original owner of Fox and Hound Bar & Grill, and Doug Glendenning, former president of Lone Star Steakhouse. They've changed owners twice in the past four years, and currently have more than 56 locations in 20 states up and down the East Coast, as well as the Midwest, Oklahoma, and Phoenix.
Dubbed "polished casual," it was early on the wood-fired grill trend. The menu features fire-grilled steaks and seafood, cooked over an open flame visible from the restaurant’s dining room. Appetizers include deviled eggs, Philly cheesesteak rolls, lobster spinach queso, smoked wings, and onion rings.
Entrees include aged rib eye, Cajun rib eye, and blue cheese filet, but there are also burgers, chicken, pasta, soup & salads, and sharable desserts - making them a little less formal and less expensive than the Eddie V's steakhouse, which has been open at that same intersection since 2022.
Desserts include cheesecake, chocolate cake, carrot cake, chocolate brownie, and a 5-layer lemon cake.
Decor is described as warm and hospitable with light-colored woods, charred black brick, floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed steel, contemporary light fixtures, abstract artwork, and a color scheme of teal, orange, and red. An open concept provides views of the kitchen, wood-fired grill, bar, and lounge. One of their signatures is a dramatically lit bar, from whence they pour cocktails, wine, local craft beer, seasonal drink specials, plus unique bar bites. There's also a multi-seasonal patio.
