Fish & chips from beloved departed Fish & Fizz to pop up at Dallas bar
A dearly departed fish & chips purveyor will return in pop-up form on that most holy of days: Chef Nick Barclay of Fish & Fizz fame will bring his vaunted rendition of fish & chips, to BarNone in East Dallas on Good Friday, March 29, from 11 am-9 pm.
Barclay was the proprietor of Fish & Fizz, a restaurant in Richardson that earned praise for its fish & chips. Sadly, it closed in January 2023 due to lease issues.
The pop-up will feature his house favorite Fish & Chips (available in large, small or kid’s options) alongside classic sides such as mushy peas and curry sauce, served with Sarson’s malt vinegar and Cornish Sea Salt. Plus Bread & Butter pudding with caramel sauce and Devon cream!
BarNone will also feature some of its favorite dishes and offer a full bar to include a special glass of Fizz to accompany the Fish & Chips.
The idea for the pop up emerged when BarNone co-owner Jennifer Rohde Dickerson was chatting with Barclay at Bud’s Fresh-Cut Produce, owned by her family, during his pursuit of a fresh cut Chip. As the two talked shop, he shared some details about his food truck named Chip that will be hitting the road this spring. (In fact, guests can get a first-hand look at Chip, which will be parked outside BarNone on Good Friday!)
“As Nick and I were talking, I thought perhaps we could host a fish fry pop up on a Monday at BarNone, but then he suggested Good Friday and the rest, as they say, is history,” Dickerson said. “Todd and I are so excited to offer our BarNone customers what food critics and foodies alike have claimed to be ‘the best fish and chips in Dallas,’ and to partner with Nick before the launch of his latest venture.”
Barclay commented, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be working alongside Jen, Todd and the entire BarNone crew on what should be a super fun way to kick off the Easter weekend!”
