Halloween is a curious holiday. There are the two separate, but equally important, camps of Halloween revelers — those who are in it for the candy, and those who are in it for the slutty nurses. Although we love candy, most houses aren’t handing out slutty nurses. (Or are they?)
Instead, your chances at finding your Batman or Wonder Woman are best when alcohol is involved. We’ve put together a few places to check out now through Halloween (which is Wednesday, BTW) that promise to, at the very least, get you tipsy.
Costumes aren’t required, but if you don’t dress up for a Halloween party, then you can git out.
Candleroom
Candleroom takes on a distinctly Anglo-centric style for its Halloween party Saturday night. Between bartenders dressed as Fembots and Austin Powers(es?), and host Mark Stafford, Brit and CEO of Revel United, Candleroom is going to be the most British Halloween party this weekend. Throw in some Halloween-inspired drinks, and you’ll be slurring in a terrible fake British accent in no time.
The Ginger Man
If Candleroom sounds too fancy and/or British, the Ginger Man is hosting a costume party Saturday night from 8 pm to midnight. That’s not to say you can’t stick around after that or get there before 8. In fact, we encourage it. Put on those beer goggles early and find a naughty bumblebee or web-slinging Spider-Man. But we suggest you wear a more inventive costume, because they’re giving out prizes at midnight.
PubCrawls.com Halloween Pub Crawl
This one should be relatively straightforward. This pub crawl starts at Trophy Room on McKinney Avenue in Uptown on either Saturday at 3 pm or Wednesday at 5 pm for a giant night of drinking guaranteed to spook your liver. Grab as many friends as you can, because there are considerable group discounts. Dress up like zombies, and, by the end of the night, you’ll have that lifeless, confused walk down perfectly.
Oak Lawn Halloween Street Party 2012
Get your weird on at the 3900 block of Cedar Springs, Saturday from 7 pm-2 am. You’ll find live music, food, beer and other drinks that aren’t nearly as interesting as beer at this free block party. This is an all-ages event, but laws still exist at block parties, so any underage revelers will have to stick to those other drinks that aren’t as interesting as beer.
Sunday School at Hotel ZaZa
Hotel ZaZa is bringing back its Sunday School brunch this weekend with a Halloween-themed “Dancing in the Dark” fete at noon. It’s on Sunday, if you haven’t picked up on that yet. Costumes are encouraged, and, at $50 per person, know that this brunch is one of them fancy brunches. That doesn’t mean you can’t get ripped. It is Sunday Funday, after all.
The People’s Last Halloween Party
Susie O, of Susie Drinks Dallas, will be hosting a Halloween bash at the People’s Last Stand in Mockingbird Station October 30. This totally free event even features two complimentary drink tickets and some grub cooked up by chef Josh Black. The event starts at 7:30, but stick around till the end if you think your costume is worthy. There are prizes.
