Cookie News
2025 is the last year to get this Girl Scout cookie flavor in Dallas
Girl Scout cookie season is back with big news for 2025: One of their flavors will be retired this year.
According to a release, 2025 will be the last year that the S’mores cookie flavor is sold. You know what that means: Rush for the aisles, call your Girl Scout representative immediately (or visit girlscoutcookies.org) to hoard-purchase a stash of this flavor before it goes away forever. A box is $7.
The S'mores — a sandwich cookie with graham cookies and a filling with layers of real-cocoa chocolate and marshmallow-like cream — is a relatively new flavor, introduced in 2017. It's being discontinued for the reason you might suspect: It was the lowest-selling cookie, other than Toffee-tastic, which they are forced to keep because it's gluten-free.
Of the nine varieties sold in the Dallas area, these are the three most popular, in order:
- Thin Mints - chocolate-coated chocolate mint cookie
- Samoas - with caramel, coconut, and chocolate stripes
- Tagalongs - cookie topped with peanut butter layer coated in chocolate
Samoas is the second-most popular?? How can that be. The following second-tier are all equal sellers:
- Adventurefuls - brownie-inspired cookies with caramel-flavored creme
- Lemon-Ups - lemon cookies
- Trefoils - shortbread cookies
- Do-si-dos - oatmeal sandwich cookies with peanut-butter filling
(There are actually 12 flavors total but three — Lemonades, Caramel Chocolate Chip, and Toast-Yay — are not available in the Dallas area.)
And as stated above, S'mores is the second lowest, while Toffee-tastic — buttery cookies with crunchy toffee bits — is the lowest seller. This is so unfair to the S'mores cookie.
The S'mores was not the only new flavor they've rotated in: Adventurefuls were just introduced in 2022, and in 2023 they had the limited-edition raspberry twist on Thin Mints.
Aside from unleashing boxes of desirable cookies upon an enthusiastic public, the Girl Scout cookie program is also designed to help young women develop entrepreneurial skills such as goal-setting and money management, says Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas CEO Jennifer Bartkowski in a statement.
“The Girl Scout Cookie Program is more than an opportunity to satisfy your sweet tooth—it’s an investment in building strong, confident women right here in our community. Every dollar stays local, funding exciting adventures, life-changing experiences, and empowering girls to develop the skills they need to lead with courage and character, Bartkowski says. "When you buy cookies, you’re not just treating yourself—you’re supporting the next generation of leaders."

Norma's Cafe partnership
Girl Scouts brings back its partnership with Dallas-based home-cooking chain Norma’s Café as the official Dessert Sponsor of the 2025 Cookie Season.
In 2017, Norma’s helped GSNETX launch the Girl Scout S’mores cookie, and will close the chapter on this favorite flavor with a special dessert: a S'mores pie consisting of a silky chocolate cream pie with marshmallow meringue topped with Girl Scout S’mores® cookie crumbles, available at Norma’s Café locations for a limited time between January 10 and February 23.
“We are absolutely thrilled to create a s'mores pie for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas," ssays Norma's Cafe VP Kurt Metzger in a statement.
Norma’s Café locations are also hosting Girl Scouts cookie booths outside on select weekends beginning January 24.
