Upscale Mexican restaurant Los Caminos opens at Flower Mound mixed-use
A much-anticipated Mexican restaurant has opened its doors: Called Los Caminos Modern Mexican restaurant, it's now open in Flower Mound at 880 International Pkwy. where it's serving lobster fajitas, steaks, and mole.
According to a release, Los Caminos is an elevated, full-service restaurant featuring Modern Mexican and coastal influenced cuisine, an extensive bar program, and guest-focused hospitality.
It's from Suburban Life Hospitality Group, a hospitality firm founded in 2021 by Jeffrey Denmon and Bryan Hantes, who bring more than 50 years of combined experience in the upscale restaurant industry. Denmon was previously with Restaurant Works (Cru Wine Bar, Princi Italia) while Hantes worked with Bob's Steak & Chop House & Omni Hotels & Resorts.
In a statement, Denmon says the goal is to immerse diners in an authentic experience.
“From the moment of arrival at the elegantly styled hacienda, guests will find themselves immersed in the rich culture and lifestyle of coastal Mexico,” Denmon says.
That includes gas-lit lanterns, warm colors, distressed wood, textured materials, and comfortable oversized seating.
Guests will be welcomed by a spacious dining room and lively bar that opens to a climate-controlled covered patio featuring two large fireplaces.
"We’ll know we’ve done something right when memories of trips to resorts in Tulum and Cabo San Lucas are evoked," Denmon says. Points to Denmon for using the word "evoked."
Highlights of the menu include seared scallops, lobster fajitas, hand-cut steaks, fresh fish, and moles. The bar will serve a wide selection of tequilas and mezcals — to be savored alone or in a cocktail — as well as fine wine and beers of Mexico and South America.
There are brisket empanadas, ceviche, chicken flautas, sopas, and chile relleno with rice and black beans. There are five tacos, including fried lobster, chicken mole, and steak on blue corn tortillas.
There are fine-dining style entrees such as a black Angus filet mignon and halibut with green pumpkinseed sauce; but there are also burritos, enchiladas, nachos, and quesadillas. Prices range from $15 for the enchiladas to $48 for a 14-ounce ribeye with fingerling potatoes.
They're starting with limited hours: dinner Tuesday-Thursday from 5-10 pm and Friday-Saturday until 11 pm, but they'll expand to seven days a week and add lunch and brunch on Sundays. Plus longer bar hours for night-owls, Denmon says.
“The bar and kitchen will stay open late on the weekdays and even later on the weekends in the near future, so that guests have a place of their own, long after others have closed for the night,” he says.
They're located at Lakeside Village, a 160-acre mixed-use development next to Lake Grapevine and master planned with a variety of residences, restaurants, shops, cafes, hotels, parks, and trails. At build-out, Lakeside Village is planned for approximately 2,200 residences and 705,000 square feet of commercial space. The project is 75% built out, with the final 40-acre phase currently under construction.
