TGI Fridays at 2444 Preston Rd. closed on January 3. A statement posted on the door said the company is “extremely grateful” to guests and staff and invites customers to “visit other Fridays.”
85C° Bakery & Café will open a location in Grand Prairie's Asia Time Square, at 2625 W. Pioneer Pkwy., according to a release.
Great American Cookies has opened a new store at the Firewheel Town Center in Garland, at 605 Town Square Blvd. #605. Their claim to fame is their Original Cookie Cake which dates back to 1977, along with double doozies and brownies.
Meridian, the restaurant by Chef Junior Borges at The Village, has adopted a new fixed-price menu format for its main dining room. It's a four-course meal for $73, and diners can select three or four choices in each course, with an optional wine pairing for $40. Those still clinging to à la carte style dining can order Meridian favorites in the bar area and patio lounge.
Harper’s has a new seasonal menu with more sharable starters, an expanded Crustacea & Raw section, new entrées, a robust salad, and a new brunch dish. New dishes include crab rangoon, grotto miso, kale salad, a deconstructed California roll, crispy sushi rice with yellowfin & avocado, hamachi sashimi, scallops with miso brown butter, osso bucco, beet tortellini, and berry pancakes.
Ocean Prime has added and/or revamped the following menu items: Spicy Tuna Roll, Blue Crab Roll, Crab Cake with sweet & sour slaw, Blackened Snapper with corn spoon bread, Branzino with artichokes & broccolini, Lobster Linguini, Chilean Sea Bass with broccolini & potato purée, Lobster Mac & Cheese.
Homewood, the restaurant from chef Matt McCallister, has changed its menu to "bistro style," with portions that are a bit smaller, allowing diners to taste more, and each dish has a suggested wine pairing. They've also added a selection of snacks. Another new option is "Let Us Cook for You and Let Us Pour for You," where they'll create a meal based on your preferences. New dishes include oysters, smoked venison carpaccio, crispy chickpeas, mushroom fritters, and ricotta-spinach tart. Pastas include ricotta gnocchi, mezzaluna with radicchio, and tagliarini with smoked salmon. Bigger dishes include duck breast with rye spaetzle, and Akayushi ribeye.
Bonefish Grill has a new seasonal menu featuring Kung Pao Brussels sprouts, scallop & shrimp scampi pasta, Alaskan sablefish with spinach & crab, ceda-plank salmon, chocolate lava cake, and the return of their Winter White Cosmo cocktail with Reyka Vodka, Cointreau, St. Germain Elderflower liqueur, white cranberry juice, fresh lime juice and topped with frozen cranberries.
Sprinkles Cupcakes has teamed with Gold House, the nonprofit collective of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) leaders, to celebrate Lunar New Year with a new Gold Bunny Almond Red Velvet Cupcake featuring an almond-filled red velvet cake atop an almond cookie crust and topped with almond cream cheese frosting, available through January 29.
El Pollo Loco has new Loco Burrito Grillers: Sonoran-style handheld burritos with chicken or beef, served with a new Loco Dipping Sauce in a specially designed carrier box featuring artwork by Raúl Urias. Each order contains two Loco Burrito Grillers, and you can also get them in a chicken and beef combo, one of each. Available through February 22.
Smoothie King has launched Power Meal Smoothies in three flavors: Blueberry Raspberry (blueberries, raspberries, apple juice, almonds, Gladiator protein, protein blend, multivitamin); Cinnamon Banana (cinnamon, bananas, dates, almonds, Gladiator protein, protein blend, multivitamin); and Spinach Pineapple (spinach, pineapple, white grape lemon juice blend, almonds, Gladiator protein, protein blend, and multivitamin).
III Forks has released a new "Straight Up" collection of three cocktails: cosmopolitan with Wheatley vodka, martini with Empress 1908 gin, and martini with Tito's Handmade vodka and a blue-cheese stuffed olive, available through April 24.
Taco Cabana launched a Double Crunch Pizza in December 2022 and it was such a hit that they're adding two flavors: Chorizo & Egg Double Crunch Pizza, available for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and Shredded Chicken Double Crunch Pizza. They're $5 at all Texas Taco Cabana locations.
Pizza Hut is bringing back its New York-style extra-large 16-inch pizza, first introduced in 1999, featuring six foldable slices with pepperoni, marinara, and Parmesan oregano seasoning, for $14. It'll be available beginning February 1 for a limited time, but how long it runs they do not say.
Wetzel’s Pretzels has two new Latin treats: Frozen Horchata and Choco Churro Bitz with Ghirardelli chocolate sauce.
Mi Dia From Scratch has a January cocktail of the month, the Humo de Violeta (Violet Smoke) Margarita with Ilegal Joven Mezcal, Chicha Morada, lemon juice, and ginger agave, served in a martini glass with dry ice and a Tajin rim for $16 through January 31, at all three locations in Plano, Grapevine, and Flower Mound.
Barcelona Wine Bar has a new cocktail: the Flor de Sal, made with La Cigarrera Manzanilla, Alma de Trabanco cider apéritif, luxardo maraschino, lime, lemon, and black lava salt. Order for the table and it comes served in a porròn, designed to be shared. They also have their first "no ABV" cocktail, the Bees & Bays, made with lime, salted honey syrup, cardamom, and bitters, tumbled with ice, topped with sparkling water and garnished with a smoky torched bay leaf.
RS3 Strategic Hospitality, a division of Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment based in Round Rock, has come aboard as the official hospitality provider for Choctaw Stadium in Arlington. RS3 Strategic Hospitality consists of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, former Houston Astros minority owner Don Sanders, and Ryan Sanders Sports & Entertainment CEO Reid Ryan at the helm. They've provided food & beverage at the Dallas Stars’ 6,000-seat Comerica Center since 2019, and Riders Field, home of the Frisco RoughRiders since 2021.
