Preciosa Pizza debuts in North Dallas with breakfast and Venezuelan twist
A pizzeria has opened in Dallas serving what is definitely a different slice: Called Preciosa Pizza, it's a newly-opened Neapolitan style pizzeria, at 3909 Frankford Rd. #110, but with a Venezuelan twist.
The pizzeria is a spinoff of a bakery of the same name, called Preciosa Bakery, located in Carrollton, both from owners Carlos Martinez and Yanerit Carrasco.
Like the bakery, the pizzeria draws on Venezuelan ingredients and features recipes passed down through the generations.
There are 13 pizza varieties, ranging from traditional toppings like pepperoni, sausage, Margherita, and Hawaiian, to more adventurous selections inspired by recipes from south of the border.
One example: the Venezolana, which has the expected red sauce and mozzarella, but comes topped with bacon, ham, and corn.
The signature pie, appropriately named Preciosa, has red sauce, mozzarella, ham, onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. There’s also a breakfast pizza, with potato, eggs, and bacon.
“We have pizza for all kinds of people,” says waiter Miguel Fernandez.
Other menu items include pasta, salads, calzones, empanadas, pastelitos, omelettes, and meat-and-cheese stuffed rolls.
Pizzas comes in 8- or 12-inch sizes, priced from $10 to $17, which by fancy pizza standards is relatively low.
Beyond the unusual menu twists, they're aiming to be more than a pizzeria by staying open long hours, and serving as a go-to destination for all-day meals, open 7 days a week, including breakfast, which is served around the clock. Hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-9 pm, Friday-Saturday 8:30 am-10 pm, and early Sunday from 7 am-9 pm.
They've also applied for a liquor license, so diners can get a glass of wine with their pies.
The interior is modern and bright, with pale wood furniture and a Modena gas-wood hybrid oven, a tile-covered dome that serves as a centerpiece of the room.
