Saltgrass Steak House expands Dallas footprint with location in Denton
A familiar steakhouse name has debuted in Denton: Saltgrass Steak House, the chain from Houston-based Landry, has opened right off I-35 at 1516 Centre Place Dr., in a former Johnny Carino's (and also, briefly, a Mexican restaurant called La Casa de la Abuela, which closed in 2022).
More boldly, it's right across I-35 from a location of Outback Steakhouse. Steakhouse face-off.
Saltgrass is an award-winning steakhouse famous for its Angus beef steaks char-grilled on an open flame, seasoned with Saltgrass 7-steak spice, and topped with garlic butter.
The menu features seafood, chicken, burgers, sandwiches, and salads with favorites such as BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Double-Bone Pork Chops, Salmon Oscar, and Country Fried Steak.
Soups, salad dressings, bread, and desserts are made in-house every day.
Prices range from $19 for chicken-fried chicken and top out at $47 for a 21-oz rib eye. Entrees come with a side and a choice of soup or salad.
The No Bull Lounge offers specially priced appetizers, beer, margaritas, and wines by the glass. Happy Hour runs Monday-Friday from 3-7 pm with snacks starting at $4.50 such as fried mozzarella and Queso Fresco with Brisket, $3 beers, $4 margaritas, and select wines for $5.
Decor is said to evoke the charm of a hill country home with warm wood furnishings, leather seating, and references to the Saltgrass Trail. A private dining room can accommodate up to 25 guests, and this new location boasts an expansive covered patio with several televisions.
This will be the 19th Saltgrass in the DFW area, but will fill a void for residents of Denton, Aubrey, Ponder, Justin, Celina, and Krum, with the closest Saltgrass location up until now being way down in The Colony.
Saltgrass senior VP and COO Terry Turney says in a release that they're thrilled to provide Denton-area residents a new destination.
“Our Dallas locations are a fixture in the area, and we look forward to sharing our Angus Beef steaks, scratch-made bread, and homemade desserts with the Denton community," Turney says.
