New restaurant at Star in Frisco aims for some of that downtown flair
A new restaurant-bar coming to Frisco will try to bring an urban vibe to the suburbs: Called Snowbird Cocktail Lounge & Kitchen, it'll open at The Star complex, for residents who don't want to have to drive far to get their downtown night game on.
Snowbird will be located at 6765 Winning Dr. #800, a space that was previously Ziziki's at the Star. According to a release, it'll open on October 21.
Snowbird is from David Nguyen and Snow Vo, whose portfolio of various clubs includes Tipsy Alchemist, Barcadia, and Sidebar Uptown. For this project, they've partnered with Sobe Ahmed, who was their partner on Gaslight, a short-lived bar they opened in Uptown in 2020.
Details on the menu are still to come, but it'll incorporate Latin-American, European, and Asian cuisines, and they have a chef: Walter Bandt, a Dallas native who briefly had his own restaurant Bella Maca in Corinth, but who has lived in far-flung locales such as Bolivia, Spain, and Chile, and has worked for caterers and beef companies. A photo of their typical food indicates that there will definitely be meat. Phew, that's a relief.
Exclusive cocktails have been created by Tipsy Alchemist mixologist Steve ‘Scuba’ Underhill, who champions natural ingredients and house made syrups with no preservatives. No preservatives, that is also a relief. They'll also feature bottle service.
In a statement, David Nguyen says they're looking forward to sharing their vision with their new neighbors.
“We’re bringing something new to Frisco with this elevated lounge concept," Nguyen says. "It’s a place where people can enjoy a big night out, or just sit comfortably to connect with their friends, all while enjoying great food and drinks in a beautiful setting.”
The space comprises 4,100 square feet and a 35-foot bar, with immersive dining and lounge seating designed to encourage some more drinking after the eating, and a late-night scene with DJs. Hours will be 4 pm to midnight on weekdays, and until 2 am on weekends. Hands in the air, Frisco.
