Paris Runway Party
Dallas style setters flock to Mockingbird Station for fashionable spring fling
On March 27, the fashion gods were smiling on Mockingbird Station, as the sun pushed through the clouds to light up the annual spring What To Wear Fashion Show outside Angelika Film Center.
This year's theme centered around a Paris getaway. Deep Eddy Vodka poured French-inspired cocktails while stylish attendees — including Brittany Sizemore, Sarah Witte, Jodi Edmiston, Ashley Aspinwall, Angie Strange, Kristin Mullen, Hallie Craft, Jen Kubes, Stia Coffman, Jean Allen, Katey McFarlan and Brittney Crumpton Harp —noshed on bites courtesy of Cafe Express and DJ Blake Ward provided the evening's soundtrack. Guests also registered to win a trip for two to Paris — a sweepstakes that runs through April 15.
For the main attraction, stylist Abby Gregory pulled together looks influenced by Paris Fashion Week from participating retailers Movida, Urban Outfitters, Centre, Gap, American Apparel, Francesca's, Lavo Collections, Relativity Outdoors, Sample This and Loft. A panel of fashion enthusiasts — including yours truly, Modern Luxury editor-in-chief Kristie Ramirez, fashion stylist and writer Stephanie Quadri, Haggar Clothing senior art director Larry Oliver, CultureMap Dallas editor-in-chief Jennifer Chininis and Sisterbrother Mgmt founder Jennifer Dunn — shared their thoughts on each outfit.
Once the fashion show was complete, there was only one way to properly conclude the evening: with a rocking concert by local favorite The O's.
Perhaps most important, this special evening benefited Dress For Success, whose mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a support network and career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life. Special pieces from the group's store were also included in the runway presentation and can be purchased at the Valley View Center storefront.
