Partiers with Texas-size hearts boot scoot to battle pediatric cancer
What: Silver Dollar at the Ranch 2015
Where:XO Ranch
The 411: The eighth annual event lured hundreds of boot-scootin' partygoers to XO Ranch in Aubrey for drinks, dinner, dancing, auctions and live music. Under the helpful guidance of emcees Kris Gutierrez and Dawn Neufeld, guests loaded up on eats from III Forks and G Texas Catering before trying their hand at shuffleboard, horseshoes and mechanical bull riding. Local artist Madeline Enna warmed up the stage for Texas crooner Roger Creager and his band; during the live auction, honorary chair Zack Martin jumped up onstage to help drum up interest for his Dallas Cowboys jersey.
All the fun and games helped raise nearly $200,000 for pediatric cancer initiatives at Speedway Children's Charities at Texas Motor Speedway, which serves Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties. Proceeds from this year's event are earmarked for pediatric cancer research at Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center and Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth. To remind attendees of the important cause, Spencer, a 13-year-old who has been battling multiple forms of cancer since he was 3 months old, was in attendance as this year's honorary hero.
Who: XO Ranch owners Mardi and Chip Ferrier, Ryan Neufeld, John Wetzel, Tyron Smith, Ryan Miller, Doug Free, Connie and Wilson Howell, and Janis and Butch Moore.
