Lauren Scruggs connects with young professional women at Polish fashion show
A group of young professional women came together at Lofty Spaces for the Polish fashion show, featuring hot spring and summer looks from Milk & Honey Boutique. But the real highlight of the afternoon was listening to Lauren Scruggs, who received international media attention after a life-altering accident in December 2011, when she walked into an airplane's spinning propeller.
Scruggs, blogger and author of Still LoLo: A Spinning Propeller, a Horrific Accident and a Family's Journey of Hope, lit up the room with her positivity during a candid chat with Polish co-founder Kat Armstrong. Scruggs also shared some exciting news about her new charity, which helps young girls pay for prosthetic limbs.
After the interview, attendees — including Tori Gonzales, Catherine Lowe, Tracy Melton, Hallie Craft, Kristin Mullen and Angie Strange — settled in for the fashion show, alongside Dallas bloggers Courtney Kerr, Ashley Robertson, Stia Coffman and Jean Allen, who dutifully noted the looks they loved, no doubt to fuel upcoming posts.
Once properly sated with style, girls lined up for decadent cupcakes provided by Society Bakery and to-die-for cake balls by Shannon Crouch. On the way out, guests picked up swag bags filled with girly treats like nail polish, May Books and handmade cosmetics by Lush.
Polish is group of young professional women who get together for a monthly luncheon as a way to network with other women in the community. At each luncheon, a speaker gives an insightful talk about how career and faith can work together. It often stimulates meaningful discussion about what really matters in daily life.
