Nexus Recovery Center delights charitable Dallasites with holiday bazaar
More than 200 charitable guests gathered at the home of Susie Simon to shop the haute holiday bazaar hosted by the Nexus Recovery Center Women’s Auxiliary. Shoppers scored gifts for everyone on their list while vendors donated 15 percent of proceeds back to Nexus.
Co-chairs Carol Steele and Liz Pasquinelli did an exceptional job corralling vendors, including Lovers Lane Antique Market, Liz Mosely, Susie Weber Designs, Lucido’s Pasta, Elegantly Chocolate, In a Pickle Foods, Origami Owl, Tavel Candles, Stella and Dot, and Bonjour Mae Mae, just to name a few.
The holidays arrived a little early as attendees — including Debra Nelson, Carolyn Waghorne, Mona Baker, Beverly Barry, Jackie Asbury, Becca Crowell, Ella Banks and Jo Karen Selman — enjoyed a very jolly atmosphere. But perhaps more important, thousands of dollars were raised for programs for those recovering from trauma-based substance abuse.
Since opening in 1971, Nexus Recovery Center has assisted more than 20,000 women, adolescents and children on their journey to recovery. Every purchase of the day helped fund parenting classes, family education, counseling, life skills training and onsite childcare.
