Big-hearted Dallasites raise $1.5 million at Go Red for Women Luncheon
What: 2024 Dallas Go Red for Women Luncheon
Where: Omni Dallas Hotel
The 411: "Her Future is Bright" was the theme for the 20th anniversary Go Red for Women Luncheon, which coincided with International Women's Day on March 8. The beloved Dallas luncheon benefits the American Heart Association's efforts to research and eradicate cardiovascular disease in women.
Per tradition since the very first Go Red in 2004, the event was more than a luncheon; it began with a "wellness expo" in the lobby, where guests (donning their red outfits, of course) participated in complimentary health screenings by Texas Health, learned hands-only CPR on the CPR training kiosk, and enjoyed a bubbly bar, puppy station, bead bar, speed portraits, and other fun and educational activations.
During the heart-healthy multicourse lunch in the ballroom, Tiffany Liou (of WFAA/Channel 8) and Kristin Diaz (of KRLD-1080) emceed a program that included live entertainment, survivor stories, and awards. For her work as a community philanthropist and the first Dallas Go Red chair, Barbara Bigham received the Sandi Haddock Community Impact Award.
The highlight of the afternoon was an onstage conversation between Kidd Kraddick in The Morning’sKellie Rasberry and Nicole Lynn, who is an NFL agent, president of Football for Klutch Sports, and author of Agent You. Rasberry shared her own on-air “heart scare” as a relatable reminder for women to listen to their body and get checked by a doctor when things don't feel right.
A silent auction and paddle raise helped the event bring in an impressive $1.5 million toward the American Heart Association's lifesaving research, education, and health impact initiatives for women.
The AHA's next big Dallas event is Côtes du Coeur, a celebrity chef dinner and wine auction, taking place April 27 at the Omni Dallas Hotel
Who: Samantha Eppler, vice president of Go Red for Women in Dallas, along with co-chairs Stacy Nahas and Susan Wetzel, welcomed more than 1,000 guests, patrons, and supporters to the event.
