Venus Williams and other tennis greats descend on Dallas for summer league at Four Seasons
Tennis fans across Dallas-Fort Worth have reason to celebrate: Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas recently announced it will host a professional tennis league this summer.
To accommodate world-class players from the Mylan World TeamTennis League (WTT), Four Seasons is building a stadium to seat more than 2,000 people. The Texas Wild team will use Four Seasons as its home court.
Venus Williams will visit Las Colinas as part of her season with the Washington Kastles, which has won three consecutive World TeamTennis titles.
"Our tennis facilities are some of the finest in the country, and the property is consistently ranked as a Top 50 Tennis Resort in the U.S. by Tennis magazine," said Four Seasons general manager Luis Argote. "We are excited to welcome Texas Wild to Irving and are deeply committed to providing a world-class tennis experience for both the players and spectators."
The Texas Wild team includes Bob and Mike Bryan, winners of the 2013 Australian Open and more Grand Slams than any doubles team in tennis history. Venus Williams will visit the Las Colinas court as part of her season with the Washington Kastles, which has won three consecutive WTT titles.
The Texas Wild will play in the Western Conference along with the Orange County Breakers (Irvine, California); Sacramento Capitals (Sacramento, California) and the Springfield Lasers (Springfield, Missouri).
The Eastern Conference includes the Washington Kastles (Washington, D.C.), Boston Lobsters (Boston), New York Sportimes (New York) and the Philadelphia Freedoms (Villanova, Pennsylvania).
The 2013 Mylan World TeamTennis season runs July 7-27; specific season match dates will be released the week of March 4. Season tickets go on sale March 14, and individual tickets are available starting June 3.
