Fried Chicken Spreads Its Wings
Max's Wine Dive heads west to open new restaurant in Fort Worth
Houston-based Max's Wine Dive will open its second DFW restaurant in Fort Worth, in the So7 shopping center on West Seventh Street. "We hope to have it open by August," says spokesman Jonathan Horowitz. "It was always our intent to open a place in Fort Worth. We feel like there's nothing comparable."
Max's is going into to the space that's basically next-door to Barcadia, and it'll be the first tenant in that location. "We were looking at that space for over a year," Horowitz says. "We wanted to make sure it was the right time and right spot."
The Dallas location opened in the old Border's space in Uptown last September. The first Max's opened in Houston six years ago, followed by restaurants in Austin and San Antonio.
The Fort Worth restaurant will have the same menu configuration as the other branches, with one page of Max's Classics, including the signature fried chicken, and another page dedicated to dishes devised by the local chef, including seasonal menu options. Max's hasn't yet hired a chef for the Fort Worth location.
Max's is owned by Lasco Enterprises, which also owns the Tasting Room Wine Cafe, Boiler House Texas Grill & Wine Garden, and the Black Door. Horowitz says that more Max's are in the works
"We're looking at second locations in Houston and Austin and maybe outside Texas," he says. "Nothing else planned for DFW, but we're not ruling it out."
