All We Do is Win
Dallas crowned best city in America for sports fans
Dallas may not have a championship professional sports team at the moment, but that doesn't mean our fair city isn't winning. According to Nerdwallet, Dallas is the best city in America for sports fans.
The study analyzed the number of sports teams and sports bars as well as game attendance and ticket prices to determine the 12 best sports cities. Big D came out on top, with Chicago and Detroit rounding out the top three. No other city in Texas made the cut.
It may feel like Dallas is in a bit of dry spell for sports, but our teams have relatively high loyalty and longevity in the win column. After all, the Dallas Mavericks missed the playoffs this year after 12-straight postseason appearances. The Texas Ranger recently made back-to-back World Series runs. The Dallas Stars surpassed the franchise win-record in 2013, and the Dallas Cowboys ... well, we all remember the good old days.
By the numbers, the Cowboys have the most expensive ticket in town and also enjoy the highest attendance rate (more than 100 percent, thanks to Jerry Jones' standing-room-only stroke of genius).
The Texas Rangers have the cheapest sticker price, with tickets averaging about $22. You can get into American Airlines Center to see the Mavericks for around $50, and a ticket to see the Dallas Stars runs about $36.
