Dallas is working on its profile as the juiciest city in the world with the entry of one new company — a renowned juice veteran from New York — and expansion of another.
Elixir Juice Bar, the famed juice/smoothie chain from New York, is opening its first Texas store in Dallas at the Shops at Park Lane. It'll go into the space that was previously a Freshberry frozen-yogurt stand, across from Bowl & Barrel. Opening day is March 1.
Elixir started out as a smoothie concept in 1999. Freshly squeezed and pressed juices were soon to follow. The menu has expanded over the years to include supplements and boosters.
Juices come in eight options, such as Immune Booster and Mood Mender, in 12-, 16- and 24-ounce portions for $8 to $10. The smoothies, all vegan, sound fabulous. The Creamcicle, for example, has orange juice, soy milk, banana, peaches and vegan plant-based protein.
Vim + Vigor is a Dallas-based company founded in 2012 by cousins Elizabeth Portman Black and Annie Portman Stull. They've been selling juices online and at Number One in Highland Park Village, but their line just became available at Whole Foods stores, including Lakewood, Addison, Fairview Highland Park, Park Lane, Forest, Plano and Arlington.
"Vim + Vigor is a great match for Whole Foods and its line of products, and we are excited to introduce so many new individuals to our well-balanced blends," said Elizabeth Portman Black in a release.
Whole Foods is selling six flavors in 12-ounce bottles for $7. The juice is USDA-certified organic and non-GMO. According to the release, it undergoes a process called high-pressure pascalization that the owners say makes the juice consumable for pregnant or nursing women as well as young children.
Dallas is becoming the juiciest town in the world.
