Hublot introduces new World Cup watch for soccer fan who has (almost) everything
Hublot is celebrating the upcoming World Cup in a big way. The Swiss luxury watchmaker recently introduced the official watch of the soccer championships, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro June 12 through July 13. Brazilian soccer icon Pelé was on hand for the announcement.
Pelé, the only soccer player to win three World Cups, is the watchmaker’s ambassador to the games, where Hublot will serve as the official timekeeper.
To commemorate the partnership, Hublot created the Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chronograph watch, with an innovative bi-retrograde movement and central chrono comprising 385 components. Second and minute hands feature the national colors of Brazil — green and yellow, respectively — and a 45-minute-mark in red signifies the end of one-half of the match.
The watch comes in two versions: an 18-karat King Gold model with carbon fiber bezel ($42,400) and a black ceramic design, also with a carbon fiber bezel ($26,300). Only 300 watches will be made (100 in the gold version and 200 in the black ceramic version).
Both versions are available at the Hublot Dallas boutique in NorthPark Center.
