1. Dallas midcentury home hawks vintage rarities before tragic demolition. A Dallas home that's significant for both architects and decorators, as well as anyone who's into midcentury modern style, is set to be torn down. A treasure trove of museum-worthy fixtures was supposed to be available at the pre-demo estate sale on April 15, but the event was canceled.
2. Hot ice cream concept meets its match in ideal Dallas neighborhood. They have it in New York, they have it in Los Angeles, they have it in Houston, and now we'll have it in Dallas. It's the ice cream sensation known as Thai-style ice cream, or ice cream rolls, and it's coming to Deep Ellum via a concept called Chills 360.
3. The 10 best sushi restaurants in Dallas vie for title. We've only just introduced the 2016 CultureMap Tastemaker Awards, and we're already hitting a high point with our nominees for Best Sushi Restaurant in Dallas. DFW likes its sushi and has many contenders, but these stand out above the rest.
4. These are the 5 most charming neighborhoods in Dallas. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and Dallas boasts five areas that would make even Mr. Rogers want to pick up and move. That's according to apartment search website RentLingo, which created heat maps across the country to determine which local neighborhoods have the most charm.
5. Stolen painting makes stealthy comeback to downtown Dallas lobby. A painting pinched from the lobby of a downtown Dallas building was surreptitiously returned to its home on April 9, no questions asked. The large painting, an homage to The Eye sculpture, was spirited off by a mysterious mob of marauders who lifted the canvas right off the wall.
A painting was stolen — and then returned — downtown.
